I want to hide in the basement with the dog. Even there I do not feel safe.

I am scared of loud and quiet thunderstorms! I hate em! Lucky you ! I dont even have a basement

Aw ... next time, turn off the lights, lie in bed and watch the lightning through your open windows. Feel the cool breeze blowing through, smell the rain in the air, listen to the thunder & calculate how far away that last lightning strike was by counting the seconds that elapse between the lightning & the thunder & dividing by five.
That's what we did tonight. It was lovely.
Our house once sustained a direct lightning strike, but no one was hurt. The cables from the lightning rods to the ground did leave burn marks on the siding & shingles, and we had some electrical problems to fix - but that was about it. That one sounded different, though. There was a sizzle simultaneous with the lightning strike, followed immediately by a huge KA-BOOM! and the smell of sulfer. We felt the electricity in the air for a moment - it felt kind of like someone was throwing gravel at us. No harm done to us, though.

I hate the headache I always get before thunderstorms start. I could put up with the noise of the thunder, as it is harmless, but the whole heavy atmosphere that goes with it is horrible. Lightning that comes with it scares me- people get struck by lightning- so not so keen on any of it .

I love the thunder and lightning, but not in the summertime when its all dry about for fear of fires starting, that is my big fear BUSHFIRE. I wish I had a basement and a dog!

I love loud thunderstorms. However, I do not like tornadoes.

Good question, Cuppy Cake. I was afraid of them as a little boy, but now I absolutely love them. I don't get many here in northern California, but when I do they make me very happy.
