Considering how nowadays people want to give their kids different names a through back to old times wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Prudence isn't bad...not my first choice but at least its not as bad as Shiloh (what a godawful name!).
I like Olivia, Isabella, Victoria, Roxanne, Elizabeth...more regal sounding names that are in themselves strong names.
Prudence btw is considered a virtue...if that helps your decision.

Well if you like old fashion names like the Puritan virtue names that Prudence comes from that's great, but if you have second thoughts Faith is a beauitful name.

You don't say what the last name is and I am referring to phonetically pronunciation of the name long-short-long or short-long-short.Don't forget to take into consideration a nickname IE: Pru.or Candice-Candy or Jesse James Jones:JJ. Look in to your past on both sides of the family. There is a rich, long and up standing history to choose from.

I don't care for it, sounds kind of stuffy. Is it a family name? I named all 3 of my daughters after strong women in our family. We picked names from mine and my husbands side, Morgan Noreen (my maiden name and my grandmother -raised 13 wonderful children,) Lindy Lorene (silliness and my husbands extremely intelligent grandmother,) and Emma Rose (his grandmother -my great grandmother were both Emma, and Rose for a beautiful name ) Emma was before it was terribly trendy. But, I would imagine if you look back through your family, you can find some beautiful, strong names to try. Even if they seem a little dated, if it's important to you, then it doesn't matter.
