i have a 7.5 hp evinrude engine and the flywheel is very stiff and hard to turn so i cant pull it fast enough to start the engine but once started it runs fine.

Take the spark plug out and spray a little light oil in
cylinder pull on starting rope to see if it gets easier. spray
a little starting fluid I said a little then try it .with plug replaced

Are you sure it is the engine that is stiff or is it the starter? With the cowling off does the engine turn easy? With the cowling off how does the starter rope feel?

more than likely you broke the key ( small metal piece that makes the fly turn). just replace it...its like .50 cents. if not its got alot of buildup
