Jim Brown of the Cleveland Browns:
Here is some nice stats to back my point-
9 Years in the NFL
9 Pro Bowls
118 Games Played
12,312 yards Rushing in 118 games
5.2 yard average per rushing attempt
106 Rushing Touchdowns
262 Receptions for 2,499 yards
9.5 yards per reception
20 Receieving TD's
This guy was the most dominating RB in NFL history-5.2 yards per touch!!!! 6ft 3 234 pounds...good cut on a dime. The complete package who retired from the game way to early.
Had years of 1800 yards rushing ,1400 yards,1500 yards and these were in seasons that he played only 14 games.
Jim Brown set the standard for hard nosed -down in the trenches-smash mouth cold weather football...the way it should be played today. Not dancing and waving "Hi to Mom" and acting like you won the Superbowl after every TD scored.

I say Jerry Rice. Only because WR is the only position where you rarely get an argument (at least from anyone who truly knows/watches football) about who the best WR is. QB, RB, DB, LB, etc, there's always an argument. WR, the answer is almost always the same.

There are alot of good players, but I think that if ya go by major positions, it would be something like this:
QB-Joe Montana
RB-Jim Brown
WR-Lynn Swann/Jerry Rice (too close to call this one)
TE-Mike Ditka
K-Jan Stenerude (the first kicker to kick soccer style)
DB-Jack Tatum
Like I said, there are alot of good players. Good question!

Best I ever seen play was Barry Sanders and Dan Marino, on the offensive side of the ball. On defense I'm picking Lawrence Tayler and Reggie White.

this is a question that will always be debated. for one thing, it is difficult to come up with one definitive answer because of the different positions players play. that being said, i think players that should be in the conversation include: jerry rice and jim brown.

JIM BROWN. It was already voted on by ESPN and other high ranking affiliates. You could even say OTTO Grahm. Just look how many championships he won in his career.
