Diamonds have high carbon content..until cut and all bad stone taken away..black..like coal..that is why a jeweler looks thru the glass..checking for carbon specks in the stone. The more carbon the less the diamond is worth. That is why the size of a diamond is not the reason for it's price. It is actually how well it is faceted..what cut..and how clean the stone is.
The 4 C's. Cut,color,clarity,carat size.
