I'm trying so hard to do well in school and getting into a good college (and killing my health in the process) and I end up asking myself, "Is it worth it?" Will it all matter in the end? Should I just choose a life of medocrity and be happy?

It feels like, no matter how hard I try, I'm going to sink back into medocrity. I can be happy like that. I know I can. But I don't think it's what I want, but I can be happy in it....

Maybe being older, I can tell you a little of what I've learned. I went through the same thing at the age you are and really it is important at this age to do well because what you're doing is arranging your life so that when you're older you won't be having to make the same sacra fices that you do now. Yes, it will matter in the end as you seem to be an intelligent person. I droped out of college and joined a band that was offered a record contract but it didn't work out. I'm not trying to stress you out and you need to find time to chill out. A nervous breakdown is no good either. Ask yourself, for example, would I really be happier as a dishwasher(no shame in that) or an attorney. You can probably be happy in both jobs, but which you you rather do?

Well, the question is when is the end?

No HUMAN knows that answer no matter how much they try to con you with all this scientific information. That is just something that they cooked up to make themselves feel better. The same way that Native Americans made up stories to tell why things happened. The same reason why the Romans and the Greeks came up with the myths. The same with many other cultures and their tales to explain something.

For those of you scientific geniuses out there who want to call me a fool. I quote from Friends the episode in which Phoebe totally blew Ross's mind. She talked about how the world's greatest minds once thought that the world was flat. How they once thought that the atom was the smallest thing until they split it open. I cannot remember the rest of it at this time. Science makes new discoveries all the time that proves itself wrong. Medical science knows that some of the things that they did 100 years ago actually help kill the patient. They also stopped leeching, because they thought it was bad, only to start it again, realizing it had a value.

That said no one knows what tomorrow will bring. So today needs a little moderation. There is no point in doing too much of anything. Killing yourself to do good in school won't help you succeed. Your body has to be healthy for you to do well. If your body isn't healthy, then you won't do well.

My first class in college was a class to prepare us for the future. One of the first assignments was to prepare our schedule for a week. We were supposed to show EVERYTHING. When we slept, ate, studied, and when our ME TIME was. Of course, we could leave our bathroom time off. You should make yourself a schedule. If you do not have some ME TIME -- EVERY DAY, then you need to rework your schedule. If you are not getting three meals a day and 8 hours sleep, you need to rework your schedule.

No it does not what matters is you understand two things: Affairs do not happen in a vacuum so whatever the affair did for him the marriage was not and if must be addressed THe old marriage is dead - you cannot and you do not want to go back to it - it did not keep him faithful and will not do so in the future. You two can however - together - build a new better, deeper relationship and marriage. One so much more fulfilling on every level that you can trust once more and you can actually reach of the point of saying the affair was the best thing ever to happen to your marriage. On average for rebuilding couples expect it to take about two full years to get the IN LOVE feelings back

To have optimal enjoyment of life throughout your life, it's essential to enjoy as many aspects of your life as possible. It's important to do well in school but if you find that it comes at the cost of your health, then you should exercise other options. It may take a while but finding a comfortable balance will earn you a peaceful state of contentment. Learn to appreciate your surroundings. Working for the future to the point that you're not happy now isn't a good thing. Enjoy your youth. You'll miss it dearly when it's gone.

Yes its important to be happy and enjoy life, however, its important for you to finish your education.............your education will be your freedom in the end, as you get older you will discover the true value of good education, and you will be happier, college is a long term investment ..........but just keep in mind that whatever you end up pursuing in college, keep an open mind take various courses from philosophy, art, science, history etc etc............If your health is being effected; take some time off, maybe take a year off and travel to europe and then start school again...................BUT make sure you get a good education........because IT IS WORTH IT!!!!!!! trust me

doing well in school, and trying to get into a good college, shouldnt damage your health,,,, if it is, then you need help with managing your load,,,, as to the effort put out, yes it is worth it,,, if that is what you have chosen to do,,, as to a life of mediocrity,,,, dont think that must happen, no matter what you end up doing, life can be exciting and challenging, no matter what course you take
i am concerned with the "killing my health" part,,,,,, i as a grown up, with a small child, worked and went to college,,, and managed to work and do college during the hours my child was in school,,, and managed to make A's and excel in college, its all about managing your time, and learning good study skills,,, and what techniques work best for you,,,,, i remained healthy, making sure to get enough sleep, exercise, and to eat right,,,, it wasnt easy, and yes took scheduling,,, but nothing is worth risking your health for

this is an answer only your future can tell. work hard and end up successful and comfortable and relatively financially worry-free. or you could be hit by a bus next week and it was wasted effort.
so you can take the other road, stop and smell the roses so to speak, but then you could end up like me-a woman in her 50's, recently widowed, and now facing financial difficulties. i truly did enjoy my life till now, and so there you go. would i have traded all that good 'down' time for the alternative? i guess that even with all my future problems, i took the right road for me.
wouldn't it be nice if we all had a crystal ball??
best of luck with your decision!

I know how you feel. I'm at the end of my Junior year and it has been terrible. It's been so hard tokeep up especially with the added pressure of college right around the corner. So many times you just want to give up and give in but once you get passed this stage in your life it will all be better. At least thats what I am relying on to get me through.

I'm guessing you have not lived long enough to know. You should learn as much as you can. Knowledge provides you options, opportunities, and experiences which will help you find your path to happieness if you seek it.

As for concern for your health, you need to find different methods to accomplish your tasks. It shouldn't be that difficult, or dangerous to your health.
