911 is not an emergency number in all the countries. Also in some countries it is addressed to as 11/9, so there is very little possibility of it sounding like emergency. Also this date is not significant for any other disaster, if what you think would have been true, then this should have been a common date for many other disasters too.
That's something that i think, but then you never know, what's on the terrorists' mind.

In most country's in Europe and the middle East the date would be written 11-09 not
9-11, The news media ,always looking to name tag events and people quickly jumped on this because what is the one phone number all Americans know 911. By the way no other country uses 911 for emergency.
That's a lot of meaning for terrorist to imply. Think more plausible consider it was just a matter of timing.

9/11 was the anniversary of the US backed coup in Chile.
"There can be no physical existence of a State independent of legal existence," is on page 911 of the Encyclopedia of the Palestine Problem" It's in the chapter headed "Israel is an Illegitimate Regime (see Israel Not a State in Fact or in Law), 905-922"
I don't know if either of these things were significant to the terrorists but there they are.

There were many reasons from what I've heard for using 9/11. It was, as one mentioned, an anniversary date, and I also believe that a prominent menber of some organization was due to go on trial somewhere as well

That is a very good question,when you add the digits they total 11 that is the Number of Power and Authority. If this is a reason they tried to use their power to destroy.It could be possible.

the only conicidence i can see in 9-11 , is that Bin Laden mentioned in an interview he was impressed by "Black September"

Ive always wondered. Dont really think so, probably just so we could remember the date. I dont think any other failed attacks happened on other september 11s

I don't think so. It happened on this day, because the conditions for the attacks were right for the terrorists.
