Regardless of when you have the procedure done, you'll probably be up and around within eight hours, but you may feel some pain for several days. (See your doctor if the abdominal pain or swelling gets worse instead of better.) You should give yourself a week before you start exercising or having sex again.

RE:
How long is the recovery time after tubal ligation (getting your tubes tied)?
I'm getting my tubes tied this summer and I was wondering how long the recovery time is. I've read 3 - 5 days in what little info I've been able to find...is this about right?

I just had a c-section and a tubal ligation 5 days ago. I am in so much pain it is unreal. it is more like a burning pain. It feels as if my insides are ripping open. It mainly hurts when I try to sit or stand or lay on the bed. It has been a rough week. Everyone is different though. I had to have 2 inductions for I couldn't dilate. They kept calling my cervix cement. Whatever you decide good luck. Just know that the pain will not be there forever.

I had my tubes tied nearly 8 or 9 yrs ago, they did it through a hole in the belly button, laproscopic (sp) I only felt a little tugging feeling at the belly button but felt wonderful and even went to the movies that same night. I was in the hospital for about 6 hrs total and then went home. I never even took any pain meds. Good luck

I had a laproscopic tubal in 2001. I took the day of the procedure off and stayed home the next day. Then it was back to work for me. I was unable to wear my normal clothes for another couple of days due to the inflation of my abdomen....they put a type of gas into the abdominal cavity during the procedure. My mother actually came to town for my surgery to help me with my daughter, and she was gone the next day, with my blessing! And I am a single mother and did fine! Best wishes.....

That's about right. When I had it done, I was feeling better within a few days and back to work. It's done laparoscopically so there is only 2 or 3 small incisions. You probably won't even have stitches.

I just had my tubes tide a couple of days ago and have been in so much pain ever since. It is very painful therefore think about it before you decide that you want to go through with the procedure.

I felt great after mine. We even went and got some lunch. The area where they cut was a little sore, but really I wouldn't even say 3-5 days. Everyone is different though. You can't even tell anymore that I even had it done.
