IBM (lenovo) makes some tough laptops. If your really want something that lasts, get one MilSpec. Military rated.
If your looking for a consumer brand then I recommend Pro-Star laptops. Awesome prices for what you get. Had one that I abused daily for three years and not a single issue with it. I have never had to repair an Prostar but HP, Sony, and Toshiba keep my business going....

personally i would try a local pc repair shop. You can get a good recently gone thru used one for sometimes less than half the original price + they will fix it if something goes wrong and they are right there face to face with you.. It is like buying a used can and letting someone else take the hit on the initial depretiation.
other than that stay away from e-bay. you can't always trust people there.

I bought all 4 of my laptops from ebay
from good powersellers
getting just off lease laptops is the way to get good deals
either on ebay or someplace else
shop around for deals

gateway laptops are pretty good and there support team is number one in my book if something goes wrong and they can not fix it over the phone they will send a prepaid box for uou to ship to have it repair for free

hmm.....TOSHIBA its prettz good one.....2 Duo core gives u high sped computation....DVD multirecorder aloows all ur burnings and all stuffs with CDs......there is also built in camera lap...but i suggest u 2 buy external web cameras and not internally integrated one...that may not work a long....ya..try toshiba
