To me, this is a very hard equation to figure out... Can you figure it out?

50% means 50/100 or 1/2. of means multiplied by so
50% of 8y=1/2 * 8y=4y

answer is 4y

50% of a number is another way of say .5 times the number.

So, 50% of 8y is the same as .5*8y = 4y

I would of said 4y. As thats half or 50% of 4. But does it say what y equals?

the variable is y, but the constant is 8. By cutting the 8 in half, you will be halving the entire quantity. So it is 4y.
