no, I use to work pick up recycling containers, and bring them to a rrecycling center, then I learned that they sort out the high quality plastics, and the metals, then they just dump the rest (80%) into the landfill, so you can see it's money generated, no ecologically motivated. They charge people to have these colored plastic bins, have them do the sorting, and then take what they want, and dump the rest, maybe it's different in your area, but I can take the trash to the dump on my own, or pay a lesser fee to have it go straight to the landfill, instead of letting a private business make moeny off me, for getting the items they want to make more money. If the recycling centers where state or federal run, and non-profot, I would definaitly do it again.
