how long would it take to take a plane from paris to Rome?

But answering your main question if you go to any airline that flies from Paris to Rome you can see it yourself! I chose Airfrance because they fly from the city's main airport but are probably the most expensive. Answer: 2h05min
You can also go from a cheaper airline, such as Ryanair a little outside of Paris (called Beauvais) to another one a little inconvenient to get out of at Rome (Ciampino). That one is 2 hours.

Taking a plane from Paris to Rome isn't nearly as much fun as the overnight train. You leave Paris around 18:00 and arrive in Rome around 09:00. You get a great trip, wonderful meal and the fun and romance of a train ride. On top of that you save a nights hotel bill and don't lose the airport travel time.

I did it a few years ago and would never trade the experience for anything. It was one of the highlights of my European vacation.
