Go for it. I had my first baby shower when I was around 5 months pregnant because we were moving to another state in a few days and my girlfriends wanted to throw one for me before we left. I had enough of a bulgy belly to look pregnant, and it was a very nice baby shower. I *really* appreciated her willingness to bend the "rules" and throw the shower on the early side, because all those girls, including my mom and grandmother, wouldn't have been able to come once we moved 3 states away. So I have lots of pictures and lovely memories of a wonderful baby shower with a crowd of girls I love dearly, and otherwise, that would never have happened.
If your mom wants to do it around your fifth month, there's no reason not to do it. It's very true that traveling will become increasingly uncomfortable as your pregnancy progresses, and I think that alone is a great reason to have the shower a little on the early side. I would not hesitate to accept an invitation to a baby shower for a mom from out-of-state in her fifth month - I would be glad to have the opportunity to get to see her pregnant and participate in the baby shower.
Congratulations on the baby, and enjoy your baby shower!

If your lucky what you don't score from this one in NY ,maybe someone in the South will shower you with another!! Never too Many Baby showers!! because you get one shower for your first child the second and third, fourth and so on are rarely done!!

whatever is right for you.
i had a baby shower in florida, my mom had it for me. i live in Charlotte. i was 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. when i drove back home with all my gift I learned that i lost the baby. I experienced a still born. It was hard to look at all the gifts that i had recieved. Some people think that although you can lose the nany at any time you should wait untill you are atleast 8 months for a babyshower.

There are different solid critiques in this project. i think of this is totally nicely to settle for somebody's supply to throw a tub for you, yet there will be some those which will look upon a 2nd bathe as being grasping. I had a tub after the start of my first toddler who advance right into a preemie. My third toddler is over 11 years youthful than my 2nd and that i did have a tub in the past he advance into born. very few people attended the two showers and that i gave away all my toddler stuff in between. i think of it advance into ok yet some people probably thought i advance into cheesy.

Not too early....I think it is great that your mom wants to do this for you!! She's so excited, obviously....and wants to celebrate this very important event!
Flying won't be a problem at this point in the pregnancy....but make sure your doctor knows and approves just to be safe!
Get registered, lady....your mom is going to want to let those RSVPing where to go shopping!!
August....I know August in the South. Then again New York can be kind of funky humid, too!! Just make sure to take comfortable shoes....swollen feet are no fun when you only have flip flops and high heels to choose between!!
have fun have fun have fun!!!
Celebrate Baby!!
(Tell your mom you want a custom diaper cake centerpiece!!)

well i think that 5 months is a good time to have a shower. by that time you should know what you are having unless u decide to wait to find out. and as for traveling reasons 5 months would be alot better than 8 months or with a newborn baby

Since you live in the south i don't see why it would be a problem. i had one of my showers at about 4 months pregnant. (was getting ready to move for 7 months). IF she wants to throw you a party in August let her. She's excited over her new grand baby.
Go for a neutral theme, and have fun.

I don't think it's a bad idea. However, the only concern I would have is that the baby clothes you recieve for your shower are going to be mostly for summer, and it sounds like you are going to have a winter baby. This could be a problem, because it could be too cold for the baby to wear these clothes, and by the time it gets warm again, the baby will have grown out of them.

Ultimately it is your baby shower. You can have it as early or late as you want. My baby shower was at 7 months, but everyone is different. I don't think your friends and family will mind celebrating a little early if that is what you want.
