Well, MY experience was that at 11 weeks, I was told I was having a boy 'from what he could tell...but it was very early'. Now, there IS a stage right around 11 weeks, when boys and girls BOTH have a little something that sticks out. When I was 20 weeks, it was officially confirmed that I am having a girl. Not a guess...a real fact, so yes...it is a bit early to tell yet, lol!
My doctor (though he DID say he couldn't be positive) even circled my girl's 'penis' at 11 weeks!
Congrats on the new addition! I hope it's a healthy, beautiful little angel no matter the gender!

I doubt that the doc would have been able to tell that early! I just had a scan at 13 weeks and there was no way to see what sex my tiny little fetus is. She may have seen the umbilical cord and mistaken it for a penis...thats all I can think. The best scan to find out the sex of your baby is at 20 weeks...if the baby cooperates...my last one had her legs crossed tightly so we didn't find out she was a girl until she was born! Best of luck.

At 11 weeks the external genitalia looks the same on a boy baby as it does on a girl baby. Don't start buying blue things jyst yet, your dr. may not have been correct.

I would be suspicious, most dr will not tell until 15-22 weeks. Don't be surprised if you get a different answer at your next ultrasound

I thought that the earliest they could tell was at 16 weeks.
I would just wait and not saying anything to anyone - except the father - about it. They'll give you other ultrasounds later to confirm it.

ususally the doctor can't tell until at least 5 months. i Wouldn't rely on that plus the fact my doctor swore up and down until my son was born that he was a girl.... wait time can only tell

unless they do an amniocentesis it's almost impossible to tell that early. i'm surprised that she would tell you that.
