And also, does it have the most nuclear weapons? Even more than Russia? If you're going to answer, be valid, it's kinda important that you are. Plus, where can I find out who has the most nuclear weapons and why the U.S is or isn't a superpower?

oh jeez...please...intelligent people, I need your help. At least judging by the answers I have so far. Do I really need to define superpower? Looks like I do, so first off the Iraq war has nothing to do with whether the U.S is a super power or not. It's not really a great example. A super power is a state that is capable of exerting power on an internation level. It can influence events and project power on a worldwide scale. So far, the U.S has been able to do this in Iraq, what was missing though was an after plan. Once we succeeded, what was going to be done afterward, that's what we lacked, that was the problem. But I am asking on whole, not one situation. Overall, is the U.S a superpower or not? Think about the big picture. After the WWI, WWII and the Cold War. Throughout history and up until now. Is it still a superpower? Or was it never one?

It is hard to know who has the most nuclear weapons as we stopped reporting our numbers as required by the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty ( Is there anything we don't violate?)!
We don't know what China has as they are very secretive, and we have more than everyone else.
So what. To use them would end every ones life!
Our army, on the other hand, can't beat a bunch of civilians that have no army! We took Iraq's army with no issues, but they ran in the 90's as well, so that is no great accomplishment!
Try the latest report to the UN under the NPT and our last figures!
A superpower yes! One who misuses their power!
And Iran is not in Europe and they do not have any nuclear weapons! Where did you get that non-proved "fact"! Bush?
Iraq has everything to do with us being a superpower. We bypassed the UN and the world, nor anyone in it tried to stop us!
In 2002we had 1.140 bombs, 3,700 on subs, 1285 intercontenental, 1,800 air launced and 1.610 non strategic.
This does not include our stock pile and the bombs are of various sizes with the largest at 1,200 Kilotons!
Russia has access to about 1/2 of what we do as we have more on subs by far!
Superpower is a definition coined by those who think they are! Russia, US, China, and the new European Alliance could be included as superpowers!

While nukes have something to do with it, being a super power is more about wielding global influence. Lately, a lot of American influence has been judged negatively, but it's still there, and the US is still a superpower.
It's been claimed as 'sole superpower' since the 'end' of the Cold War, but I don't quite buy it. Russia may be under new management, but it's still a powerful nation, as is China, and both still have substantial international clout - indeed, China's is growing. If the EU can live up to the 'U' portion of it's name, and get it's act together before it's member states are islamicized, it could rise to super power status, as well. Other states, like India or Iran may also candidates, though not particularly close at the moment.

The US has been the world's only superpower for a while now. However, China and India are on the rise and Europe is kind of pooling it's resources to become a unified superpower. It won't be that way for much longer. The US probably does have the most nuclear weapons. There aren't that many nations in the world with nuclear capabilities.

The US has more nuclear weapons than anyone right at this point in time. (International Atomic Energy Agency Report for year ending 2006) Russia is hard to get a bead on because so many of theirs are in disrepair and may be useless at this point in time. China is a distant third but closing fast. So right now the US is really the only Super Power, but that is changing as China and possibly Russia are catching up. Plus we have Israel, Pakistan, India, Iran, North Korea and God knows how many other rogue nations (Venezuela) have or are close to having nuclear capability.

We are a superpower as soon as we get rid of Bush we can progress and become even greater then ever we just need another great president. Supposebly Russia has more Nukes but 1 is enough to do some damage we have thousands and thousands of Nukes but so does Russia we pretty much equal of. I hear S Korea has like 10 so we are fine.
thousands versus 10 and ours could probually actually work.
We are the Arsenal of Democracy as well.
We have a Economy that will boom as soon as bush leaves office.
We are a superpower and always will be.

We are a superpower, and we have more nukes than the rest of the world combined. For now. We are also fat and lazy, the current generation of american youth is the most ill educated that this country has yet produced. They are not tomorrows world leaders. Watch China and India, they are tomorrows superpowers.

The United States is the ONE & ONLY Superpower.
Democrats will change that in 2008. They will attempt to turn us into a Third World Nation.
Which will give the Democrats MORE Power, and the People LESS power.

i'd say no, I don't think you can be a "superpower" and be totally reliant on foreign oil and have the majority of your trade goods made in other countries, OPEC could bring this country to a grinding halt if they had the inclination

At the moment they are, but they are starting to decline. History repeats and what happened to Rome, Spain, and England will happen again.
