Liberal Democrats want the US government to control everything and they want to control the government. Most talk show hosts on radio are conservatives. The last election in 2006 shows that these hosts do not influence voters. Otherwise, the Democrats would not have won a majority of seats. Liberals fear and hate what they cannot control. There is so much advertising money being generated by conservative talk shows that liberals will never be able to shut up the hosts with anything like the so-called "fairness doctrine."

To answer a previous answerer: One of these talk show hosts calling someone a traitor because they voice opposition to the war is NOT a violation of that person's right to free speech. The first amendment only states that the government shall make no law abridging the right to free speech. If the government arrested people for voicing opposition to government policy, that would be a violation of free speech. If an individual says something, other individuals have the right to personally attack that person, this is usually done when they have nothing to back up their point of view.

I guess living in NY I live in a bubble of sanity. Or at least what I consider sanity and what you would call attacking that US from all ends. I have never heard of half the crazy things I read on here, it makes my head turn 360 degress to realize what goes on around the rest of the country. Since when has there ever been anything about a democrat wanting to ban freedom of speech. if there is any party that honors the constitution and the Bill or Rights to the letter of how it was written it is the democratic party, not the Republican party, who tries to find clauses to get around everything. Yes, talk radio is offensive to a lot of us, but as we are smarter than the average chimp, we have learned one thing, there is an off button on the radio and we don't have to listen to what we don't want to listen to. So, please continue to have your shows and continue to entertain yourselves, we aren't listening.

Since conservative talk show radio is so successful and all their attempts at liberal talk shows go in the crappers, it appears as if they are trying t piggy back on success. I have a serious problem with government manipulation of the first amendment rights or with the media in anyway. This is indeed a pathway to controlling the media.
