How far we have come from the WWII cliche "loose lips sink ships"
Control Freakery? Soldiers have many of their freedoms limited. If you were the student of the "truth" you espouse to be, you would know that. This is not unique to the "BushCo" that you spew hatred for, it is the case with every army, everywhere, in every conflict throughout history.
Maybe you have no knowledge of blackouts along the coast during WWII.
Set aside your political agenda for a moment, and realize that MySpace and YouTube are observable by the enemy who wants *YOU* and me dead.
By the way, Soldiers cannot send letters home with their unit locations, either.
But you don't live in America...you just hate *some* Americans with different politics than you. You think anything they do is evil, and anything that you do contrary to their way of thinking, must be the "truth."

The fact that this administration, in conjunction with the U.S. military, is striving to censor what our men and women in uniform can view on the web doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. After all, in the military they already strip a person of their identity, insist that they behave sheepishly to commands that are many times against their better moral judgment, and they are taught that servitude towards a country, no matter how wrong that country is, is the highest virtue.
What did you expect from such an institution – progressive and free thought? The military is always put on a pedestal as an institution that preserves our freedoms, but the irony is that the military is as totalitarian with its members as the most despotic global regimes are with its citizens. It’s no wonder the Republicans are such big fans of the military.
To allow that members of the armed forces get to see all angles of a story would open their eyes to a different perspective. And if there is one thing that is most dangerous to this administration, if there is one thing they fear the most, it is the introduction of diverse and differing ideas. If their cause was truly virtuous and truly about what is best for this country, why would they have to hid anything from our servicemen and service women? Only dictatorial institutions, who don’t have the best interest of their people at heart, will hide something. What does this tell you about our government at its military?

Because the truth would come dangerously close to setting them free ... and would certainly force the administration to answer to the individual soldier for why he or she is dying.

The lose of freedom comes when we as a people do not accept reality and would rather abdicate our freedoms for a sense of security that is impossible to actually achieve .
We pass the buck and say when it happens it does so because we let you attempt to protect us and you failed what do you want to do now to save us . This leads to more lose of freedom and more of your dollars spent to secure you from the inevitable .
Because the real answer and the truth is the enemy is religion and its total annihilation is the only thing that can save this planet from complete and utter destruction .
This realization is all about the truth that religion no matter whose is just a nice story so you can pass the responsibility for your own life on others . That to want more and be willing to kill for as others have is wrong . That murder and killing do have a reward in this type of world .
That we give our freedom and power away to easily and should remember that we must fight and die to remain as free men and women .

Notice they are all the sites used to exchange information! They both don't want information getting out of the war zone and don't want information getting into the war zone. They are isolating our troops to control them better or to shield them from some truth they don't want them to know. This will also prevent ANY independent/unfiltered information from getting out of the war zone (and DON'T say it is for security). THIS should be a HUGE RED FLAG for EVERYBODY!!!!

Yet again you are talking what you know nothing of. Certain websites are banned by military members for OPSEC. (if you don't know what it means, look it up)
You haven't served, so don't pretend you know the regulations.

That's PROPAGANDA!!!! I have friends in the service. That is a lie.
Soldiers have been punished because they were placing restricted info on their blogs. So off course there have to be some restrictions. In Europe all 18 year old are soldiers by law and they don't have the sort of liberties that our soldiers have. You people have no common sense it is like talking to walls.
I am involved in American affairs because I live in California, my husband and children are American and I think both European and Americans are very priviledged and should thank god everyday that they weren't born in a place like Mozambique.
