No, not really. There's not much that's different in organic foods. It's just a passing fad. People are trying to be "healthy", they don't realize there's not a whole lot of difference.
In fact, genetic altering can be very beneficial. Ever heard of goldren rice? Very healthy, genetically engineered. Incredibly beneficial for anyone whose diet consists mainly of rice (most of the world).

I started feeding my family whole & organic foods over 20 years ago by joining a food co-op.
There is so much to learn and you must be an educated consumer. There are all sorts of labels and designations about food currently, and a few manufacters/farmers are not scrupulous.Know what you are buying and why.
One good way to start is to join a co-op in your area. As you meet with and talk to the other co-op members, you'll learn a lot. There's always locally grown produce that is organic in local farmer's markets, too. That's a yummy addition to what you can get in the supermarket.
Free range eggs, chicken and meat are also good if you are not vegetarian.
There's a great vegetarian section here on YA,too.
Try reading there.
Good luck

Advertising is always going to exagerate.
I do like organic food though. Organic dark chocolate is to die for, especially when infused with green tea, expresso beans or ginger. I also enjoy organic cereals and juices (because I hate the taste of artificial sweetners.) It's like anything else. Some things are going to be worth the extra cash to you and some won't be. You have to try them.

You have to look into exactly how the food is made. "Certified Organic" means it is indeed up to protocol. Same with "free-range" or "free-run" on meat. Go to freerangegraphics.com and you'll see a couple of videos on this subject.

You have to spend lots of time researching on the internet. Then make an informed decision ... spend you money where you feel good ... and always WASH the produce very well.
