QuickTime and Ipod?

I can't download the Ipod/quicktime software. An error message keeps comig up.... cannot upgrade to quicktime 7. Uninstall quicktime. I have! I used remove programmes, then searched for quicktime and ipod files and removed them. Re-booted and started again....same message. The same thinghapens if I use the CD thath came with my ipod. Help!

just go 2 itunes.com and that has both softwares there
