Yes, I was a speech major in undergrad - I ended up teaching the intro to speech class as part of my graduate degree. Loved it! I also loved seeing students who were first scared, love it by the end of the semester... great feeling

I used to have a similar problem and I still get a little nervous, but the two things that helped most were practice and a supplement called theanine. Theanine is a neurotransmitter (chemical that effects mood in the brain) that has a calming effect over your entire nervous system. Its an extract from green tea and is totally natural. I take about 200 mg daily and 600-800 mg when I have to speak publically. It comes in capsules and gum form, Source Naturals is my favorite brand, available at any good health food store. Deep breathing also helps a lot! Good Luck.

Plenty times! I have to for school. Since I've done it so many times, I have plenty tips if you need them...
1. Talk slow, clear, and loud.
2. USE NOTE CARDS (if you're allowed)
3. Remember, people aren't judging you. They know how hard it is to do something like that.
4. Keep eye contact with your audience.
5. Think that there's someone in the audience that loves you no matter how you do.
6. Don't think about all the people looking at you!

How large of a group. I do programs at work on the weekend which can have about 40 people in them. I do believe that's the largest group I've been in front of.

Many many times. I used to do briefings when I was in the military. To be comfortable at it you need to practice in front of friends a few times until you get comfortable. Being very familiar with the subject, preparation and good notes are very important. Also trying to find one friendly face in the audience helps to improve your confidence. The more times you present the easier it gets.
