Some people come across a 2 second sound bite that sounds interesting, and leads to a gov cover-up conspiracy. And they are taken by it. The actual explanations may take a while, but have always proved we went.
The single best proof that we went is: If we didnt, do you think that our Cold War enemy, the USSR, wouldnt have exposed the US as a fraud and embarassed us on every front page paper in the world? They had every telescope and sattelite watching the Apollo program. They saw we went, and therefore kept quiet.

This was a rumour started by members of the Flat Earth Society. If they had accepted that the US had been to the Moon, then all their theories would have to be thrown out the window, because, clearly, when viewed from space, the Earth and Moon are seen to be spherical and about 380,000 kilometres apart, not flat and 6000 km apart, as they believe. So the only way that they can justify and continue their delusion is to find evidence that none of the Moon landings took place. They, and their subsequent supporters, claim things such as not being able to see anything of the landing site by telescope as evidence, even though telescopes just don't have that resolution capability, as evidence. Their other claims, such as waving flags, discrepancies in movements etc, have been convincingly and scientifically proved wrong, (see link, below).
But still they persist, because to accept that man landed on the Moon would wipe away a life time of beliefs and comforting delusion.

There was a documentary on this exact question. One of the reasons among many was the fact that the astronauts placed a marker or flag of some sort and even with the worlds strongest telescope no one can find it.There were also issues of landing and than taking off from the moon....Also some of your leading scientists say there is no way to have re-entry into our atmosphere without burning up and discintigrating

Same reason why some people don't step on cracks in the sidewalks, why some believe in the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and believe that their neighbors have been abducted by aliens. I will let you will in the answer.

Some people are so weak minded, that they will believe anything. And they are the ones that are so insignificant, that the only way that they will be noticed ,is if they agree on the stupidest issues.

Because denying the occurrence of certain significant world events fortifies their religious or political beliefs, or they are driven by prejudice from other sources.

The operative word is "think." People who believe in conspiracy theories are incapable of it.
