I had xrays done on my back and abdominal area at my chirporactors office before i found out i was pregnant. I couldn't have been more than a couple weeks along while it was done. Is that ok?

Well in my case.. I actually had a CT SCAN on my stomach before I found out I was pregnant, which is about 10 times more radiation then an X ray.. I found out I wasn't even 2 weeks pregnant at the time.. I am now 28 weeks pregnant and my baby is growing just fine.. My advice to you is, get the prenatal screening done.. The one that tells you the chances of the baby having down syndrome and all that.. Also, to take your worries off a bit, I was told by many drs. that if radiation was going to do any damage to the baby, the chances were I would miscarry by 3 months.. Don't stress yourself, if everything seems fine so far, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Good luck =)

it might be ok, it might not be. i dont want to alarm you but my sister was born with a hole in her heart due to my step mum having an xray done before she knew she was pregnant. good news is, my sisters all right now. talk to your doctor about it. im sure if there is something wrong, like with my sister, that everything will work out and your baby will grow into a perfectly healthy child, if they're not born that way.

I'm not sure that was totally safe. Most times, if you're pregnant, they either don't take x-rays, or cover you with the protective blanket. I don't think it's too much of a risk, but I'd definetly ask your doctor when you go in.

Well, if they covered you correctly - like they are ALWAYS supposed to with women - then there should be no problems.

But I know that there are quite a few radiologists out there who get careless with this, so I'd mention this to your doctor to be sure.

Good luck with the pregnancy!!

relax. It was only the one time. It should not hurt the baby
