traveling at light speed is obviously not fast enough. So how would a space traveler of the future travel between stars? List any theories please.

I would imagine a machine on board that could bend space and be at a different place instantly.

You could use a time machine. If the trip takes a thousand years, you slow time time for those in the spaceship, so it only takes 10 days to them, then use a time machine to back in time 1,000 years, minus 10 days.

You could use astral travel, where the astral body can travel instantly anywhere in the universe.

You could use a multi-dimensional drive, where any place in the universe is very close to every other place. Just open a dimensional door to somewhere else.

Einstein might be wrong, and faster than light travel might be possible.

You could use use tachyons to travel faster than light.

You might use a black hole (or other technology) to alter the laws of the universe and permit faster than light travel.

You could use an infinite improbability drive, where the infinitely improbable is the norm.

You could use a "Bad News" Drive, because bad news travels faster than light. The problem with that is that nobody wants to see you when you get there because you always bring bad news.

You could use a time machine to travel back to shortly after the moment of the big bang, where everything is only a few miles apart, and after getting to where you want, travel forward again to the present.

You could use a dark drive, because everyone knows that the speed of dark is much faster than the speed of light. Dark is so fast that nobody has ever been able to measure its speed.

The problem with bending space, is that only gravity can do it, and an increase in gravity slows down time, thus you have no real advantage. Also, the faster you travel, the more you slow down time. And your length decreases in the direction of travel relative to your velocity, thus the distance from you grows from your perspective.

One other thing. When a giant star expands to the size of a red giant, about 100 million miles in radius, and collapses, thereby igniting a supernova, it collapses from a size about a radius of 100 million miles to 1 million miles in less than a second. Or so scientists tell us.

What they usually leave out, is that in order to collapse that fast, matter on the outer edge of the star has to travel 99 million miles in less than a second, or about 100 million miles per second, which is about 537 times the speed of light. Ergo, the speed of light may not be a valid speed limit.

A theory in science is a testable hypothesis. There is no theory of space travel faster than light in "macro" physics because relativity requires an infinite amount of energy to reach the speed of light.

Some aspects of quantum mechanics allow a form of time travel, but I'm not aware of anything other than some string theories that provide the possibility of "wormholes" making possible instantaneous travel from one point in the universe to another, but string theories are notoriously untestable.

So there are no "theories on space travel." There is a lot of speculation, so read a lot of real science fiction (Analog, Azimov's, books) if you want to see what writers can think of, but they are not theories.

key to unlock space travel is GRAVITY if u can minipulate gravity u can travel instantly with no fuel.. ( u have a craft with three gravity amplifiers which u focus all three in front of the craft (delta configuration)to create with in the gravity a distortion which if u like allows u to "slide downhill" in that distortion indefiniatly that would be effective for travel between the stars.
now all the legit sightings of these craft at day but more so at night always claim bright lights of all different coulors and the movement or flight defies logic this is because the gravity amplifiers produce electricity and in our earths atmosphere of nitrogen and oxygen gas create what are known as a corona discharge or bright lights in the sky and to explain how they fly defying logic when in our atmosphere they fly in what is called (omicron configuration) only using 1 gravity amplifier focused down to the ground which is really unstable compared to delta config.3 and they are much acceptable to gravity which is why it appears they are flying in crazy directions defying logic.

There is a theory that space is warped and a wormhole could connect two different places of the warped space. However, we have no idea where wormholes exist let along how to create them between two points (assuming space is warped). And equations seem to indicate that the presence of anything in the wormhole (like a space ship) would tear it apart.

And as you know, we cannot travel at the speed of light because as we approach that speed, our mass increases infinitely.
