is it illegal where you live?
it is here (oz) and personally i don't agree with it being illegal. I personally believe that it should be the parents decision.

spanking/smacking are considered the same thing here in australia. it's where the child gets a short quick "smack" usually on their nappy, or occasionally if the child is older on their bottom.

For the record, I dont have a situation with smacking teenagers i became into smacked and it on no account did me any injury, and if I ever have teenagers of my very own, dam precise they would be getting a smack for mis-behaving yet what you describe right here is not smacking it fairly is actual abuse organic an trouble-free. A smack is (in my eyes) a whack around the backside leaving the newborn with fairly a sting / crimson mark at absolute worst. If she is hitting them around the face so not elementary her hands swell i'm stunned this newborn hasn't the two already been admitted to well being middle with extreme bruising or if the newborn is walking approximately with super handprints throughout his little face that somebody at nursery/ pre-college hasn't already reported her. you're doing the properly suited difficulty yet dont touch her - you will purely land your self interior the **** and a pair of wrongs do not make an exact !

I think smacking your own kids in public or anywhere should be illegal. Where I live you are allowed to smack your child if he/she is 8-14 years but not on the head and not with an object.

Smacking a child is child abuse and yes it should be illegal. What kind of mother would want to smack their kid in the face? Spanking, to a certain extent, is a whole lot more acceptable.

i live in Greece, it isn't illegal but i am against it. other than the physical pain the child has to endure humiliation which is worst of all. in theory its a good way of teaching kids right from wrong and putting down the law to them however people take advantage of this and children are seriously hurt. it shouldn't be made illegal because some circumstance call for reprimand, but everything should have a limit. after all children are so innocent, even if they have been naughty. its up to the parent to set the limit and teach them how to become good adults and citizens

Amen sister....not illegal here that I am aware of but I live in Louisiana and we have *** backwards laws. Now smacking the screaming kid in line at walmart that isn't yours should definitely be legal...if the parents just sit there and let the demons throw temper tantrums why should I have to listen to it?

A smack on the butt is okay but when I see parents kicking, clobbering their kids in the face & head, so hard that it knocks them to the ground, that's where I have a problem. If parents are that out of control in public, what do they do behind closed doors? Verbal abuse in public makes me want to cry. Then parents wonder why their children don't respect their parents. Duh!!!!!!!

I agree with you! It should be the parents decision! And sometimes kids try to get away with more in public because they know you won't spank them in front of people.

yes it should. some parents cross the line. i've seen some really ugly situations where the little kid got smacked way too hard...rather emabarrassing for the parent i would say. if you cant control your kids without hitting...dont take them in public.

Not to the best of my knowledge... and I don't think it should be illegal because it's not like child abuse or anything, and it can teach a kid a lesson
