It really depends on how long they are...

Like. If they're short and kind of stubby, don't paint them a bright or too dark color. It will look...kind of ugly. If your nails are short you should use light pink for them, they'll look elegant and cute :]

If you have longer nails...

Bright and Dark ARE PERFECT! You could still use light pink, bit if you wanna be 'out there' use bright colors or blacks/blues/wines.

I hope that made sense.

Short and Stubby: Light Pink
Long-ish: Bright colors, Dark colors or light pink

That's just what I follow, though.

I used to paint my nails dark pink or light red all the time. Now, I just make sure they are clean and buffed. I usually put on a top coat of very very light pink. It looks good.

It depends on your skin tone. You want nail colors that complement your skin tone. Here's how to determine your skin tone:

Warm skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear green.
2. Gold jewelry is more flattering than silver jewelry.
ex) soft neutral, sheer pink - Essie's Sugar Daddy
dark, shimmery red - Essie's Swing Velvet
warm, pearly taupe - Essie's Buy Me a Cameo

Cool skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear blue.
2. Silver jewelry is more flattering.

ex) soft, pale pink - Essie's Ballet Slippers
cool red - OPI's I'm Not Really a Waitress

Pink!!! Also go to get ur manis and pedis at a salon! They would know the best colors for you and how to make your nails extra stronger and how to get them longer! And you can do it for pretty cheap! Just go to a local salon or a mall and you can get a free consultation! Good Luck!!

It depends upon your skin tone. If you're pale, then stick to pale pinks or true reds; if you're olive toned then go for peaches or gold tones; if you're darker then spring for bright vibrant jewel tones.

The best universal shades are: "Mademoiselle" by Essie, "Tutti Frutti Tonga" by OPI, and a french manicure.

If you're a bit lazy like me, go with light pink, so if it chips, it won't look so terrible and you can put off fixing it if you want to.
