Mind, describe us human beings and we are the only creatures who have mind so we can think and know what to do and that's the part that makes us special.

و الحمد لله على نعمة العقل.
we should thank God for our mind.

The think the power of the mind lies in what was programmed there as a young child! Those prohibition/admonitions stay deeply imprinted all our lives. In depth therapy is helpful--actually, any way one can explore the "truths" that we accept. As a personal example, I always believed that I was a slow learner; that people believed that I was a slow driver when in actuality, I drove very fast; etc. I hit a period of great stress--I had borrowed for a yr at Berkeley to get a teacher's California teaching credential. I was divorced after an 11 yr marriage; and had split our worldly goods--I had $200, a bicycle and a worn-out French degree, and no place to live. I got into a boarding house, rode to class on my bike and basically lived on pennies for a year. I had to serve as a Subject in a psych experiement--a revolving drum of 3-letter non-sensical "words" (no meaningful words). I was supposed to anticipate what would come next. The drum made noise and I did the best I could as it went around and around. I just KNEW I wasn't getting any of them right, was on the verge of tears and was ready to bolt from the room when the experimenter stopped it and stepped out from behind her screne with a smile on her face! (I had envisioned her with a deep disgusted frown!) and she said, "You are the second fastest learner!" It was the first time that I had reality and my belief system side by side. I was so shaken, that I walked up the hill to student counseling services. There in my mind was the image of my mother with a big fierce frown on her face and she was saying, "You're SO SLOW!!" I was sitting on the little potty--just a toddler, myself. I had generalized that to being slow in EVERYTHING! I probably didn't understand what I was supposed to do on that little chair.... That guidance counselor started me upon exploring other mind-sets and questioning their veracity. I found many more mind-sets that proved inaccuate about myself and life. I was able to alter my life-style into a more productive one.

Simply put, the power of the human mind is what seperate's humans from animals, although sadly, I don't think many people as of late use it to their full potential. I believe that even if not in our lifetime, humans will be able to do anything they BELIEVE they can do. The mind's always been in place, it just takes humans awhile to gain a larger reach of what they can do. For example, years ago we thought we could go into space, no one had the means of course, but look at us now.
