Ask anybody who was alive in 1960 what they thought the year 2000 would look like. (Hint: It doesn't).

By the year 2050 everything will be more like dull, fast paced, and hectic. Our society is moving so quick that everything is in rush order..from our food, to our money spending, to our jobs, and life's overall. The reason I say dull is because pollution is also moving at a fast pace. If we don't do anything about it now as a country and cooperate with other, we will be experiencing some weird weather and natural phenomenons.
Hovering is a possibility, there are already contraptions that have that capability and can be seen as a benefit. So yeah, you can expect this. But as for metallic...no, the sun will be too hot and bright. May hurt some people and cause accidents.

no, I believe in order for everything (cars) to hover(all the time and everywhere), we will have to let them be networked and computer controlled.
people drive pretty poorly even with traffic laws, just imagine if they where allowed to fly. and what would happen as their vehicle crashed into the ground from a high altitude.
I believe that it will take many decades to develop a computer network fast and Vast and dynamic enough to maintain a balance for traffic control. maybe 2060 pushing 70.
Its really time, and money consuming for infrastructure upgrades, such as city or state sponsored free wireless networks to broadcast GPS tracking info and obstacle locations.
I think things will be yellow or red, not silver (you cant see silver to well when your flying in a blue and/or grey sky)
but you can see yellow and red.

oh and I found these videos about autonomous, radar, laser and GPS path constrained guided computers controlling vehicles in a race. This is the starting point if you ask me. And it needs time to develop.

most of the funding for these projects have been from the support of the US military.
I think they'll play with it for at least 10 years until the bugs are worked out, so thats why I aim for the 2060 mark.

I just read an article that says that 70% of all cars today are silver, so we are getting close.
As for hovering, I always thought hover cars were cool, but when your engine dies, you and a buddy can't just push it down the road. You just cannot beat the good, old-fashioned wheel.

flying cars were being talked about for over 40 years
still not here yet
so has talk of the end of the world
we are still here
if cars advanced as fast as computer technology
we should all be in flying cars
2050 life will be about the same as it is now
if not worse since we seem to have a war that can't end

Man, we've been talking about the hoverboard and the flying car for decades, and I still don't have my hoverboard and flying car! Somebody needs to get crackin' on this stuff, or we still won't have it in another 40 years.
