Shock it ! You might have to do it more than once.........Also if you have a pool cleaner use it after the first shock.......if that doesn't do it, then put yourself thru all of that work.

Depends on the pool, but I'd be wary of shocking it -- the strong concentrations of chlorine and other chemicals in shocking a pool can cause the pool liner to degrade and even break up. Best bet, if you have the option, is to empty it, clean it and refill. If that's not an option, I'd call a service to come clean it for you. After scooping all the big stuff out, they can run a pump that circulates the water through a series of filters that removes most of the particulate matter (leaves, dirt, dead bugs, etc), then they switch to finer filters and chelators (chemicals that cause finer particles and suspended solids to clump together, making it possible to filter them out) to remove the last bit. It might cost a bit, but it might be your only option, depending on how your pool is designed and just how "pond-like" it's become.

You cannot drain a vinyl liner pool, if you have one.

Take a water sample to your local pool store and they should be able to help you.

If not raise your chlorine level by shocking it. Balance your pH and total alkalinity. Check your stabilizer level..
