Much is made about Bush's Grand Father supposedly funding Hitler. If true that is horrific. But did Bush or his Father do it?
Quick Quiz: Does anyone know where the Gore Family Money Came From? Mr. Environment and Health?
Answer: Tobacco. Has he given the money all away to fund and Fight Global Warming? Nope.
Do they still take the Government Subsidies given to Tobacco Farmers? Hmmmmmmm.
Or help fund Americas leading cause of Death, Cigarettes?
Nope.

Now, I don't blame Gore and any attempt to do so would be silly, as he is not active in it anymore (To my knowledge).
So, why do you hold Bush accountable for his Grand Father.
I mean it would only make sense to list BOTH as Villains if BOTH Grand Father's contributed as killers?????

Folks, my only point in this question was to get a little lively debate. None of it matters on the surface. I got the exact answers I expected to. A few folks got to vent about Bush and exagerate.
Didn't know about Bush's Grand Pappy? I was told that a total of 27 times in the last 3 days, when I suggested that according to the IRS tax Revenue were up last year, even with a Tax cut.

While it's hypocritical to hold one child responsible for the sins of his grandfather, and not another, it's really pretty stupid to hold the son accountable for the sins of the father, anyway. Even if you were consistent about afixing blame to later generations - and thus not hypocritical about it - you'd still deserve to be told off for it.

People are themselves, not thier parents or grandparents or ancestors, and should be judged wholly on thier own merits. To think otherwise is no different from racism.

I know that Gore's family made money in the Tobacco Ind. I was unaware of the Bush tie to Hitler. Regardless I could care less about that stuff. I think it is important who the person is now. But mind you tobacco unlike Hitler was not at first thought to be harmful....how I don't know but that is the case.

I agree that it hypocritical. We are not responsible for the "sins' of our fathers. I also question when the President's grandfather supported Hitler. Charles Lindburg and other prominent Americans did also, but that was before Hitler started the holocaust against the Jews. I'm not saying Hitler was ever a good person, but there was a time Hitler was jailed for opposing the German government. He was seen as a leader who would help Germany escape the severe economic depression that followed WWI. Support of Hitler during the 1920's was quite different than support during the late 1930's.

You know, the funny thing is that I despise George W. Bush and I think he is the worst president we have ever had the misfortune to have. But I have never heard the "Bush's Grand Father supposedly funding Hitler" story. Who is holding Bush accountable for that?? What makes you say that? The people who dislike Bush dislike him for his current policies and his own behavior. In my experience it's often the supporters of a given politician who wave stuff like this around in an attempt to distract from genuine, issues-based problems.

Well said...and food for thought...
I have heard MANY times on here the accusation that Bush's family had ties to Hitler and a host of others , but I have never heard the Gore family connection with tobacco in the yahoo forum...I knew about it from other sources...but not here...

So, what your saying is that supporting tobacoo farmers is the same as funding a dictator who attempted to wipe out a race of people?

Who's blaming Bush for his grandfather? I have only ever been told that when asking where the Bush family fortune came from.

Prescott Bush had his assets seized under the "trading with the Enemy" act, the enemy being Nazi Germany.

Interestingly, their family was early and vigorous supporters of abortion and Planned Parenthood.

Al Gore's family did nothing illegal, and nothing to merit seizure of their assets.

Yes. Not to mention the Kennedy family fortune (bootleg alcohol). By the by, Bush's grandfather did not fund Hitler.

More than likely it's just a rumor. If it was fact it would have come out much, much earlier. I'd give it as much credit as the fools that believed Pres Reagan was the Anti Christ because each of his names had 6 letters in them.
