i don't think once a day is ok but i did drink a couple glasses when i was preg. and during christmas i had a glass with hubby and at friends' house while celebrating for new years. i cut it with some club soda, but that was my choice. i don't think once in a while, every 2-3 weeks, one glass will harm that far along. i went to a nice restaurant that was run by people from poland and they got very upset when i did not try their wine, so i had a glass to appease them, they seemed to think it was fine. europeans are more open than americans though.
oh and my dr said once in a while doesn't hurt. especially in 3rd trimester when you're sooo uncomfy you just want something to relax.

seriously, just think about it like this would i give a baby alcohol to drink, of course you would say no, and it would be against the law to serve alcohol to a minor, so why give your unborn baby alcohol to drink, i wanted to drink also when i was pregnant, but i said my baby has the right to come into this world health and with everything developed normal, why take the risk? Doctors can`t even tell us how much alcohol can cause damage to our babies, so i rather have a health baby , then one that i have to tell everyday momma sorry for hurting you while you were in my womb, these people that are saying its OK, will not be the one their for you helping you raise a child with alcohol syndrome, So your best thing is non-alcohol wine which they do sell. i personally would not put my child in any risk, just wait till the baby is born, then you can drink your glass of wine, its only nine months. you can hang in their, at least you can tell yourself you took great care of yourself and your baby while you were pregnant.

The younger an individual begins to bring alcohol into their system the higher their chances are to become an alcoholic. If you can hold out, it would be in the best interests of your child. Could you try dense juices to cut the cravings. It sounds silly but sipping prune juice tastes like a liqueur. There must be other dense ones out there too. Also carbonated fruit juice (in champaigne shaped bottles) like pear juice tastes a lot like wine coolers. If you can't hold off, talk with your doctor first to see how much would be safe for the baby. Good luck.

There are several theories out there about this, but it is a fact that some countries with lower miscarriage rates drink one glass of wine per day since that's their culture. The American culture states that any alcohol is bad but you can find some American Medical Doctors that will say the "European" way of drinking a glass a day is okay.
Talk it over with your doctor.

"How Much Alcohol Is Too Much?
It's clear that abusing alcohol during pregnancy is dangerous, but what about the occasional drink? How much alcohol constitutes too much during pregnancy?
No evidence exists that can determine exactly how much alcohol ingestion will produce birth defects. Individual women process alcohol differently. Other factors vary the results, too, such as the age of the mother, the timing and regularity of the alcohol ingestion, and whether the mother has eaten any food while drinking."

For me it's not ok. Books on pregnancy have always advocated that when you're pregnant or nursing, avoid alcohol. Even drinks like soda and coffee or any caffeinated drinks. Even small amounts of alcohol may have adverse effect on your unborn child. You can never tell. If you're craving for fruity taste, why don't you try sparkling apple cider(no alcohol) instead.

No, drinking while pregnant is not a good idea, but talk to your doctor. My mom's doc actually told her to drink a glass of wine a week when she was pregnant with me. It helps with circulation and stress. Some doctors think its ok and some don't. I personally didn't drink during my pregnancy but that was my choice.

Probably not. Is it possible you could substitute something else to satisfy the craving? My mother ate fruit everything, juice, Popsicles, etc. Why not try that? I know it's not the same, but you might find something that can keep you happy enough to make a nice substitute. Freeing yourself to indulge all your safe cravings might help you forget your regular glass of wine, too.
