hi, for my 17th birthday, my parents are allowing me to take a trip to anywhere in the United States. I will be going around late July, early August. I do not want to go anywhere that the weather would be too hot and I want it to be driving distance from Illinois. I can't think of anywhere to go where alot of teenagers would be, could you give me some ideas?

You can't think of anywhere because there isn't anywhere. Given the option, most kids don't want to be within 3 days driving distance of Illinois. They are headed to places where they can have fun and soak up the sun (and all the fun created by the sun).

During the spring break season there are always more families on cruises, and that, of course, means more teens, too. I suggest you go to the club the first night, when everybody is "new" and before cliques can form. Just put a smile on your face, say Hi, and start talking and listening! (The usual stuff like where are you from, is it your first cruise, have you toured the ship yet.) You will meet people to go for pizza with, to meet to hang out at the pool, etc. Go to the Royal Caribbean web site, read every bit of information, look at all the photos, and then follow the link to your ship and do the same! If you know your cabin number you will be able to find it on the deck plans, and be able to know where the pool is, etc. Be sure to pack your swimsuit (not a thong, but anything else is fair game!), a coverup, flipflops or water shoes (the deck around the pool can get both hot and slippery), and plenty of sunscreen (use lots!). Also, take a tote bag to keep you sunglasses, sunscreen, daily program, key/ID card, paperback book, etc. Take (or wear to save suitcase space!) a comfortable pair of sneakers for daytime, and flat shoes for evening. You do not need heels and hose! You need fewer clothes than you might think -- something dressy for formal nights, nice slacks and slinky top or sundress and light shawl for other nights, and shorts and tops for daytime. Since you will probably be in a swimsuit most days at sea, you need fewer shorts and tops than you might expect. Go have a blast!

You could go to cedar point, six flags, or kings island for around there.
If I was you though I would go to North Carolina or Florida go enjoy a beach or something. North Carolina is a very nice place I have been there. Florida is nice place South Beach Miami Florida is nice. I live over in Indiana, I'm 22 years old, there is nothing fun around your state believe me, you could go up to Michigan if you want that place is nice but I'm not sure about the fun part.
