It was already envisaged that Aussies were lifting the cup.
In all polls and votes, Australia finished on the top. Only NZ or Afrikaans could challenge them.
Lankans had nothing to lose by playing the cup, as it was luck in the semis which brought them closer to the cup, and let them dream....

Ri ri (reminds me of ri ri yakinni), you guys are still trying to convince the world that Aussies are the real champs right? Believe me... It will never work... The world know you guys won it by cheating.. In other words, the world knows Sri Lanka deserves the world cup... I feel so bad about all the Au-cheat-ssies they're having a hard time making the world believe something funny... Ri ri my friend, everyone knows the Aucheats are killing the spirit of this beautiful game.... U know, i'm pretty damn sure most of the aussies cant sleep at night.... Pity... While it is a fact that Australia played better and won the world cup, one should admit that Sri Lanka too played better cricket in the world cup and they gave bit of scare to Australia when Jayasuriya and Sangakkara were going great guns.

Australia has long been in a class of its own for a loooooong time now, that won't change in a hurry do to our development and love of the game, its a passion here in summer ! Our money and resources put us a step ahead of the rest of the world. Oyechak - I agree they should be commended for their challenge, but really were lucky to be there ! Vakayil - Is that SriLankan for "No idea" ? because really you have none, passionate though i'll give you that but what a sore loser !
Australias professionalism and Winning Attitude is really a step above, did you also know a leading American Baseball Coach has been working with our team in the field to sharpen their skills and reaction times ? We are true professionals at this game, only the Kiwis fighting nature allows them to challenge us ! Along with perhaps South Africa. We are a team of Champions that can apply pressure to tighten the vice like grip at our beck and call ! Any one of 6 Batsmen or Bowlers could win the match for us, as was seen in their dominance we never needed to really bat past 4th drop !

Oh You got this news sooooooo late..its been ages now and people have forgotton it even !! and Btw Is it funny?? i mean...in every match one team win and other lose.....and this is what makes a game....and there is no funny aspect of all this system !! SriLankans managed managed to play final out of 15 teams agaisnt Australia........won't you give them credit??? and plus they played so well !
