J. K. Rowling said that in the 7th book, Harry having his mother's eyes is going to be "very important" to the plot. Any Theories on why that may be?

Some theories ...

1) In Book 7, ways in which Harry is like his mother will end up making the difference in defeating You-Know-Who. For instance, Dumbledore has said that A) Lily's love for Harry is what saved his life as a child and B) Harry's ability to love is what distinguishes him most from Y-K-W.

2) If Snape turns out to be a good guy in the end, ways in which Harry is like his mother may help Harry and Snape make peace. (It's possible that Snape had a bit of a schoolboy crush on Lily in his Hogwarts days.)

I never really gave this much thought until I saw this question. I'm thinking it has something to do with his personality. Everyone says he's "the spitting image of his father, James" but he has Lily's eyes. Perhaps it shows that while he can me rash and impulsive like his father was, that he has the ability to see things in a level headed manner like I assume his mother was. He looks just like James, can act like James... but he is not James. He's got that little part of his mother in him and it's going to help him out a lot.

Being able to thing logically and clearly will really come to his advantage when the you know what hits the fan.

I don't know if it works the way people are saying... he has his mother's eyes therefore Voldemort can't kill him. Harry was born with those green eyes, they weren't magically transplanted to him after his mother was killed. And if we remember from the prophecy, the child could have been Neville or Harry but Voldemort chose Harry from the two boys. Harry would've had those green eyes whether Voldemort had decided to kill Neville's parents or his.

harry's mother was a very good person. she loved her younge son so much that she gave her life for him, therefor using her love to save him from the avada kedavra curse that voldemort was going to use to kill the harry and eliminate the prophecy. his mother was muggleborn and was a very understanding , sweet, kind, and yet somehow a tough person. it isimportnt that harry has gotten these good qualities. he is like her in multiple ways. harry is connected 2 her in the same as to which he is his father. in harry's eyes is a piece of her soul and his. eyes behold the person within. it is as if u were asking why harry had his father's face or hair.

also in book 6 it is said that his mother's qualities will help to defeat voldemort

lupin says in book 3 that harry looks like his father but his eyes... he has his mother's eyes.

in book 5 or 6 harry looks in the oensieve during an ocumulacy lesson with professor snape and sees his mother taking up for him as the mauradars (lupin, peter, james, and sirius) taunted him. before he could see all of snape's worst memory he was tugged away by snape for snooping. i am unsure as 2 if this has any improtance but snape did not want lily's help... it may b that harry and snape are more closely related than they think since he was at school with them.

it could b a way 2 identify harry also if 4 any reason he must disguise himself or hide out as sirius did in the cave near hogsmead.

voldemort may not b able 2 kill harry because of his eyes due 2 the way he once killed her.

voldemort also said once that harry was brave like his parents so that may b like a thingy that has to do with the eyes because in book 4 voldemort says he wants to see the lights leave harry's eyes when he killed him on voldemort's father's grave.

in book 1 harry looks in the mirror and sees his mother and father and only spoke to them. this was his greatest want. and in the same book voldemort said that he could bring them back to life if harry joined him but in book 5 (@ the end) after sirius died harry wanted him back and nearly headless nick says that u can not change death. harry's parent's could not *** back... unless there is something we do not kno...

Lily's eyes were an emerald green, the same color of the killing curse. It is important that he has her eyes to show his survival of having Avada Kedavra aimed at him.

I do not know if this is true, this is just one of my theories.

We still do not know the answer to that. However, since it is regularly mentioned, it must have some meaning and we'll find out on the 21st.

maybe it just stresses the love that harry's mom has for him that saves his life a couple of times....so I guess its important in a way because it shows that his mom will always be there protecting him from harm even if shes dead and she will never leave him just as her eyes will never leave him
