I'm about to graduate.. could use some help...?

I'm about to graduate from a 4 year university in los Angles with a BA in fine arts and a minor in digital Media. i want to persue my dream career --> I want to be a movie/fashion makeup up artist. But i'm kinda unsure of where to go and what to look for... I want to know more about the industry and could use any pointers... and any sugguestions.. Please help me out!!

This is sad. You spent four years and all that money and you dont know how to start. How bad is that. :(

Why didnt your profs explain this to you. I think you should stop by to see them in their offices and see if you can get some advice from these supposedly expert guys who you paid to educate you. I think they at least owe you some advice!

They have to know more about how your industry works than random people on Yahoo!!!!

Your best bet would just try to start on the lower end and work your way up. Stay in Los Angelos and find where auditions for movies are. Instead of auditioning for acting, see if you can ask around and get an apprenticeship as a makeup artist.

Or, you could possibly even find film production graduates who are starting to make independent movies and ask them if they need a makeup artist or fashion designer.

You will not get anywhere without experience (it is that way with nearly any job) or if you know someone high up in the movie business, which you probably don't (as most people don't).

You might want to check to see if you have to be a licensed cosmotologist to do movie make-up.
