I am looking for work, but I don't want to take chances by giving out personal info, or something.

Data entry is an actual, real job, although the ones online that claim to offer jobs are mostly scams - for their up-front fee, they'll give you a list of possible places to apply, not a job itself.

Data entry isn't nearly as common of a job now as it was 20 years ago, since the new computer systems generally allow for data entry on forms on the computer screen, and it's often entered directly by the person receiving the info, rather than being written onto paper, then data entered.

Data entry is really a job. It's usually typing information into a database -- this is typically tedious and sedentary work. The information you'd enter is usually gleaned from other's handwritten or typed notes, verbal notes (recorded dictation), or other documents. You'd probably have to apply for a job and that process would require that you divulge some personal information about yourself. But, if you are concerned about the legitimacy of the job -- trust your instincts. Ask for references about the company before getting involved. Good luck!

it is real but extremely boring and tedious...most online companies however are scams..they call themselves "data entry" but it is usually something like typing pop up advertisements etc..
