Well, the best thing you can do is wait. You dont want to frighten your mom. You always have to take into account when you are going to bring home a pet how the other living things in the house are going to feel about it... including the humans. Animals can tell when something is frightened of it as well as other emotions. This can lead to stress of a potential pet. When you move out and have a place of your own, then you can consider getting the pet of your dreams. Good luck, I know it stinks when we have to wait for something we really want, but you need to keep in mind how this may affect the life of your pet and your mother.

Hello..hmm, just had this question earlier, just how it is ..parents are the boss, they say no, you have to live with it & respect their wishes, especially someone who's MOM & afraid of snakes, it is quite the phobia for many to hate them..so till you're 18, you have to live by parental rules, if her fear isn't too bad you can maybe visit a good reptile store & let her look at them, but for some the fear is sooo bad it can take Professional help !! Take Care :)

You could have her read about snakes. Let her see the facts and that there is nothing to worry or stress about. You have to keep trying your hardest to proove your point of veiw. Also, just "accidently" leave information about the type of snake you want laying around. Good Luck

My babysitter is also scared of snakes. I got a garter snake and he is very small. She isn't scared of my snake becuase it's really small and isn't that active so he looks almost like he is not even real. Garter snakes eat fish, so it's not as hard as feeding it mice. Why dont you take her to a petshop or something and show her which one you want. (even though my mom doesnt like snakes, she thought mine was very cute and loved him)

I'm a mother and believe me, there is nothing you can do. Someone threw a garden snake that wrapped around my neck when I was seven, and to this day, I am petrified of worms.

Ask her to go to a pet shop and see if she can handle a small garter snake.
