Cebu because it's not far from the civilization with malls, nightlifes, hospitals, nice beaches nearby.

I retired to Iloilo 5 years ago and am very happy with that decision. I live in a nice gated/guarded subdivision just on the edge of downtown. We have 5 major modern shopping malls with built in theaters. Iloilo supermarket chain carries a wide variety of imported food. 2 Golf couses and evan a bowling alley. Many nice resturants and resorts. The cost of living is at least 1/3 less than Cebu and we have no major industry so no choaking air polllution. We also have 4 good private hospitals. 1 brand new one with a cardiac center and real ambulances. Tricare approved and accepted here in case your retired military like me. We are also not in the typhoon belt and they are rare here.

You didn't mention Bacolod City on ******. It's a nice place to retire too and I think you'd find Dumagetti is a bit too remote.

Feel free to send me an E mail if you'd like to know more about Iloilo.

Subic and Cebu would be good choices but if you really want a city life and can afford it then I would live in Metro Manila with one of the luxury subdivisions there.

Cebu is a good choice, you have to look for a place outside of the city proper but not that far...
Why, so that you can still have access to a city life when you feel bored living in a remote place..

cebu and subic are the best among your choices.. the others aren't really good..and #2 ,#3,#4 are still considered provinces.... but i would highly recommend metro manila.. because it is the most modern city in the philippines.. and to be honest the philippine isn't really a poor country...if you come here to metro manila you could chose houses like in the subdivions like forbes(houses range from P20-P100million),grean meadows(same range of houses),white (same)plains, loyola grandhouses range from P10m-50m, and many more

cebu, although Dumeguette is nice, muslims though. dipolog in mindanoa, zambuanga del norte is pretty nice. the shopping isnt as great at manila, but you can get what you need, including great seafood. *cant spell, sorry* if you want safety, i suggest cebu, i felt safer their, theres more westerners there. i liked dalaguete, south of cebu city and carr carr. my wifes fathers family is from there, and we plan to build a retirement home there. although, its a little bity village, maybe 300 people, but my goodness its peacefull.
