The first American League triple crown winner was Napoleon Lajoie of the Philadelphia Athletics in 1901. He completely dominated the stats column that year. (see link)

Nap Lajoie (PHI) won the first triple crown in the AL in 1901 with 14HR, 125 RBI and a .426 avg.

Tip O'Neill (STL) won the American Association one in 1887. Hugh Duffy won the first NL one in 1894.
