if your around a smell so much you don't notice it like others do. Thats why many can't smell their own stink. I can smell my hair the first 10 mins but the smell goes away to me.

I've heard that described as "olfactory overload". I am not sure that there is any REAL merit to the idea, but it has been said that after about ten minutes, your brain adjusts to the scent, and then ignores it, unless, like skunk musk, it is completely overwhelming.
