No place of business can refuse you a reciept. They can go back at least 24 hours into thier system to print a recipet or make a handwritten reciept. I'd tell them that you need a reciept (which hopefully you asked for at the time of payment) or you will be taking any possible legal actions. For further reference do not leave a place until you have a reciept wether it be for a $5 fan or $50,000 in restitution. A recipet proves you have made a payment and without it they can claim you've never paid it and charge you again and again until you have a valid receipt.

No, they cannot refuse a receipt. I am not sure how you would go about it. I hope you paid by check or credit card. If you paid cash, it is your word against theirs.
I would say that depending on the need for restitution, if there was an attorney involved, you could ask them how to force the issue.
Whatever you do, if you DO have any evidence that you paid them, do not lose it. Refusing you a receipt can only be bad.

Legally no, but you should have never given them money without getting the receipt right then.
Hopefully you sent them a check (your canceled check is your proof) or a money order. You would need to write the money order company and ask for proof of deposit from the money order.
Good luck and I hope you have learned a valuable lesson. NEVER give money without getting a receipt right then!

You should always demand a receipt after payment check with the legal aid department in your area for further action. I cant imagine why your employer refused.

No, they can't refuse. A Receipt is proof of payment. Do you have another way of tracking your payments (ie did you pay by check, kept your money order receipts/ etc?)
or did you do the wrong thing and pay by cash?

You should ALWAYS get a receipt after paying for something. I am hoping that you didn't pay with cash so that you will have your bank statement showing that you paid.

Don't you pay restitution to the courts, not the employer? Maybe that is why they never gave you a reciept.

i think they should give you a receipt to confim payment. get a lawyer. they can come back and state that you never paid them. the receipt is your confirmation that you have indeed paid.

if you give anyone your debit card number, account number, or any bank information, you're basically giving the consent to withdraw from your account. your best bet would be to close that account and open a new one.

You should have requested a reciept before you gave them money, there's nothing you can do now if they don't want to give you one.
