I know this is not the right category, but I felt I would get the best answers here.

What would you do if you went on a job interview with the state, and then they called you to come in and take a typing test which makes you feel you have a good shot at it, but then another department from the state called you in for an interview, and you really want that job. There is no guarantee you will get either one, but if the first one was offered to you before you heard from the one you really want, and the pay would be the same what would you do being that there is no guarantee for either. If I was to turn down the first one that I do want as well, but not as bad as the 2nd one then what happens if I don't even get the 2nd one.

Take whichever one comes first and then transfer when you can into the one you want most. Transferring is a whole lot easier to do than getting hired from the outside as most companies would promote from within and also youll have a cash flow coming in, in the mean time. Good luck

You continue the interview process and consider all options as they come to you. As I interview candidates, my expectation is that the good ones will have several options available to them and I need to make mine competitive. This is very normal, so don't sweat it. As the offers come in, be honest with your prospective employers...they can't be upset that your interviewing elsewhere. Tell them that you need a couple days to consider your options and do just that. If you haven't heard from the interview for the position you really want, call them and let them know that you have an offer on the table, but you are most interested in a position with them for whatever reason (you fill in that blank). If they are indeed interested in you, they will act on this and appreciate your position. If they make excuses or delay, they are still looking and you should take that as a hint and go with the company that has made the offer.

This is not anyone elses gamble but yours. You already know the risks, no one can give you an answer that is meaningful. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

You should go to both interviews and whichever one that calls you, you take it. Beggers can't be choosers. You should take what you can get. You can't get both of them.
