There's something not just pathological or morbid about the emo fad. Disease, emotional or physical, is healthy to sympathize with. But, the emo fad is not an emotional or physical disease. It is a disease of the spirit, of ones character. There is seldom any sympathy for diseases of character or downward chosen paths. The emo fad is a sick-spirited choice to explore a downward path. It is unhealthy to choose any downward path. "Emos" quickly choose a healthier path as soon as daddy or mommy is not paying their bills for them. It is a disease of immaturity and spoiled decadence. When women have to face the real world on their own, they quickly realize that their lives are worth nothing unless they choose upward paths. They learn that, although life is difficult, it is all about going upwards. Life IS difficult. And, everyone has their share of problems to overcome. People look at "emos" and want to puke because, instead of attempting . . . with any character or class or hopefullness or imagination . . . to overcome Life's struggles and their own weaknesses . . . struggles and weaknesses that we ALL have . . . "emos" choose instead to wallow in the submissive darkness of ruin. For me, ever looking into the faces of the young, as a hospice nurse, and ever thirsting for the wonderful breath of fresh hope and vigor and clear vision that our young so eternally replenish us all with as we struggle to overcomelife's daily challenges, when we are no longer in the sanctum of childhood ourselves, I am profoundly revolted by the emo fad and how it gives nothing of any goodness to anyone. And, just when women, after 40,000 years of climbing out of slavery and second-class human status, have finally started to have some say in the world, just when women might finally have an opportunity to change the paradigm of civilization to one of guardianship instead of plunder, just when it is crucial that the world takes women seriously, why on Earth would young women choose as their creative expression and offering to civilization, such a stupid, self-centered sick fad?

I think what started it is that early on, the "emo" fad was really marginalized, and so the majority of kids ("preps") ridiculed them. Immature people often ridicule anyone that is very different from themselves.
Then later on, even when it became more "cool" to be emo, making fun of emos became a sort of fad, too. I think it's a trend that will go away as soon as it stops being so common and "cool" to be emo. I think fads generally only take a little over a year to disappear, so if you're genuine about the music and dress you like, you will soon be able to act like you want to without being made fun of. Sure, many emo types will move on to the next fad too, but you'll always be able to find people you can get along with. Keep being true to yourself and don't be hurt by meaningless insults.

What's an emo? Is that like "goth"? I'm not in high school anymore, so I don't know, but I know the goth kids I went to school with didn't have much respect for me or any of my friends becaue we were straight, or preppy or "normal" or whatever you want to call it. It's a fact of life: you WILL be judged by how you look. Hey, nobody said life was fair. IT IS SO NOT FAIR, but that's how the world works, honey, so if you want to excepted as a normal, functioning person capable of living with the rest of society, act and dress like one. You're "emo"-ness is probably a phase anyhow. Plus, it's "in" right now, isn't it? It's a fad that will pass, like flannel shirts and hippies. Also, kids are mean. If they tell you to go cut yourself, you should tell them to go **** themselves. Seriously.

they hate things they don't understand or don't want to understand. or, just because their friends don't like you. to be honest, they probably don't even know why they hate you. people are so judging and need to worry about themselves rather than other people and the music they listen to or how they dress. there is so much more to life than that. also, they pick on people they think are smaller than them so by ya'll being 'emo' they probably assume that you have low self-esteem and won't stick up for yourself. when they say those things, laugh at them. they'll stop doing it if you make them look stupid, ignore them, or just laugh and be like ha ok, whatever you say. best of luck to you!

No one hates them. I guess it's because they are always sulking and they are depressed-looking. They aren't very pleasant to look at. Wearing long, drab black clothes isn't eye candy, if you know what I mean.

people like to make fun of & put down things they don`t understand...just ignore them, it`s not worth it to worry about it!!! let them be silly, narrow-minded twits for the rest of their lives!!! they will be the ones losing out by not being more tolerant of others!!!
