I have a ceiling fan with an outlet on the wall for on and off. however when in the ON position the lights no longer come on because the pull chain does not do anything but hang there now. Any idea on how to get the chain back to making the lights come back on? Fan works fine still can control that side of the service, but the lights chain does nothing at all now. Help please.

If you take off the four screws holding the light assembly onto the fan let it hang by the wires. the pull chain is a switch. go to home depot or similiar store and you can buy a replacement pull chain. turn of the switch on the wall, replace pull chain. Reassemble light to fan. easy task! good luck.

When you say it hangs there do you mean that when you grab it and pull it the light does not come on? If it is just too short a stub to grab you can get an extension that clips onto the bead chain. If it does move have you tried changing the light bulb? If the switch itself is not turning the light on and off you can take down the fixture and twist the two connections from the switch together so that the light socket is always on. Then the wall switch will be able to make the light go on/off without the fixture switch being a problem.

The same thing happened to me. You have to replace the pull chain switch. You really have to take about 1/2 of it down to get to it. It's not really that bad- I'm a woman and I did it myself with no clue. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and tell them what kind of fan it is + they'll give you the right switch and the instructions will be in it.
