Don't bother saying april 1st, and if you are religious don't say we shouldn't have one, it makes you look scared of atheism.

Alot of people are saying everyday should be atheist day. I see what you mean, but I think a precise day would make people more aware of atheism.

every day is atheist day.
you can't just be an atheist on sunday mornings and then go out and live the rest of your life without thinking about it. being an atheistic hypocrite is what a believing world simply finds unbelievable.
every day should be celebrated as atheist day. think, breathe, eat, and drink atheism 24/7. monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday, sunday.
every day is atheist day.
can i get an amen?

People are aware of atheism.
I think if you want a day of atheism, then just have one. I don't mean that to sound mean spirited, just practical. You, and the other atheists you know, gather at the same time each year and celebrate it. It's unlikely to become a national holiday because so many employers could not afford to pay for anther day off work, but that doesn't mean you could not begin a movement to establishing such a day for atheists. It's up to you.

Notice that there's not "intellectuals day", "Inventor's Day", "Enlightenment Day" or "Genius Day".
Most celebrations are carry overs from humankind's more primative tribal era. "Days" to celebrate or recognise an under-represented group is the liberal way of cashing in on this premise.
But, to be exact, atheism IS a religion. The most ardent followers are known for their intolerance, arrogance, and forcing of opinions on others. They are known to hold on to notions that have long since proven false, and political ideologies buttressed by athiesm are responsible for just as much death, war and genocide as god-fearing ones.

well we all are religious in our own way. i think i'm just little more open minded. yours is a good question. if someone were to answer saying of course not no how dare you, what category would that make them? seeing as how we shouldn't judge and we all have the right to believe in what we want. it's all political anyway. i say why not. we are all human right? we bow to other important"days" named after people, and we turn these days into something religious witch defeats the purpose anyway, cause we "should" only honor a higher being.

I think it is a bad idea. It just promotes the very incorrect notion that somehow in being an atheist you are belonging to a religion of sorts. I am sick and tired of hearing the various ways theists attempt to pervert the rational and make it fit into their woo woo belief systems. No, we only need a holiday from dogmatic, simpletons.

to be an atheist requires some thinking. ok. so why if you are a thinking person, do you believe in blah blah day? these are all marketing tricks, even the valentine charade and lots like it. i disagree with your thinking cos i am against grouping.
