ANY hobby or crafts store: Hobby Town, Aaron-Brothers Art Mart, Michaels, etc.

X-acto knifes require CAREFUL use !! I've done incredible slices on fingers and hand over the last 30 years !! Always best to have a SHARP blade, so purchase a box of extra blades !! Also, wear eye-protection since a tip can break off. To protect myself when not in use, I stick the knife-blade in a used wine-cork.

I have 4 #11 X-actos knives, as well as the larger knife handle for razor saws and other carving.

Good luck and SAFE hobbying !!

Where can I buy an exacto knife?

I think that it's cos-mo-leen. that's how I pronounce it, and I don't know how to spell it. Packing grease, used for metal parts, that can be shipped from over-seas and be exposed to salt/elements that would cause them to rust. I have found utility knife blades, that were in my toolbox in the garage, that have rusted together. I wish they would have had the "goo" on them. use mineral spirits or paint thinner, or maybe even rubbing alcohol to get it off, before use. Good luck! T T

I have used exacto blades for many years and that brown sticky stuff is a heavy grease (cosmoline) preservatives. Keeps the blades from rusting. If you use a little oil (wd40) or lighter fluid they should clean-up. The older the package is the sticky er it becomes.I have received new packs that hardly had any oil on them and they were rusted together.

Hobby Lobby, Michaels, craft section at Wal-Mart.

Any craft store will have them, and even most larger stores should have them in their hardware section. Occasionally Hobby Lobby has theirs on sale for 1/2 off, and they have several different styles and sizes (my husband builds and sells model rocket kits, so we clean them out).

You can buy one at hobby shops or even craft stores like Michael's. Walmart may even have them.
