You know what? Behind every warning or rule, there is a story. Some people ARE morons. You can rest assured that at some point, someone had their blow dryer in the shower with them, or their arm in the washing machine while it's running or whatever. And you can also bet that those same people sued the pants off of the companies who made those products.

I am thinking that some moron has harmed themselves in some way due to not following the instructions that most of us with common sense already know. They probably sued the manufacture and won because there was no warning on the product. Sounds stupid, but remember the hot cup of coffee spill from the McDonald's drive thru years ago that netted the person a pretty penny. So, manufacturers feel it is better to assume that all of us are stupid and/or potential lawsuits and label their products to cover themselves. Which actually sounds pretty smart to me.

Its like the person that sued McD's because they burnt their mouth on a hot cup of coffee and their friend who burnt themselves on the Hot Apple Pie!
They where both morons where they not?
The best warning that I have ever seen was on a bag of Salted Nuts. It said - Produced in a factory that processes nut products. May Contain Nuts!

The world is trying to cover all the bases, so the real morons don't sue someone for not telling the employees to was their hands or don't drink the rubbing alcohol...that kind of dumb stuff. We're being protective of the stupid people.

Funny question! it's not that they think that we're morons, it's all about liability! If company's didn't put those "common sense" warnings on their products they could be sued,if someone caused bodily harm by miss using a product.

Because we are so lawsuit-happy that companies do whatever it takes to cover their butts, including making us feel like idiots. If there is a warning for it, some idiot somewhere did it.
