Monday I got a parking ticket on my car at 10:50am.
It stated it was issued the day before (Sunday) at 2:40pm.
Violation: 32903 FMC Not Paralled w/ curb
Description of Violation: Vehicle is R/F tire not paralled w/curb (18") Facing wrong direction
Sunday, I came home at 2:25pm, I parked paralled, <18" from curb, facing the right direction. I used the car again at 4pm, there was no ticket. (I did park facing opposite direction, < 18" from curb after 4:30pm Sunday). I believed that the ticket was issued to meet a quota and wrote a different date and time.
I have a Corolla, the ticket stated that the model is Ter. The color stated was incorrect also. The License number and last 4 digit of VIN were correct on the ticket.
Should I pay or fight? I believe that if they want to fine me, they should not lie on the ticket and take the trouble to get the correct information.
It is a $60 penalty. How do I know if the penalty is correct if there are so many incorrect information

If I pay, I am allowing the same dishonor practice to continue by a law officer.
If I fight, it is going to use a lot of my time.
I have no objection to pay the fine if the information on the ticket was correct.
What to do?

You can try fighting it since so many things were inaccurate, but how are you going to prove the difference in time/distance and direction? The model of car/color, yes, that's easy to prove. The rest is your word against that of the officer.

Up to you - if you fight, you probably won't win and will have to pay court costs on top of the $60 fine.

It will really depend on how well you believe you can represent your side of the issue to the court. Do you have any proof as to the time you had remaining on the meter? I am assuming no- and that will be a sticking point, because there are probably jerks out there who lie about how much time was remaining when they were ticketed. If it wont cost you more money in the long run, ( lost money from time off work, parking woes again, etc.) I would try to fight it. It *is* wrong for the city to do this- and there are probbaly dozens of people daily that this happens to that just pay the ticket and dont bother to fight. And, to me, It doesnt matter if its only $25. Hey, $25 dollars can be a big deal to many people, especially after the holidays. Maybe calling upon a city/county representative along with appearing and complaining about the ticketing method as well as the length of timeit took for the city to respond & the crappy response to your call ("when we get around to it"). Maybe a letter to the editor of your local paper, or if your paper has a web site, maybe a rant section or talk back section online to voice displeasure with the methods the city is using to ticket and address appeals would at least help to draw attention to the matter. Do you happen to have any time dated materials from that day? ( store reciepts, atm, anything that may have some time stamped on it) That would surely help. If you decide to go ahead and pay it, I would still consider voicing complaints- maybe even to the mayors office. t least then someone will know a citizen is upset. Best of luck to you. ps- do look into wether or not you will have to pay additional court fees if the ticket is upheld. that may weigh into your decision as well.

I suggest you appeal it giving all the errors to indicate that you believe the ticket must have been issued in error. For the highest chance of success, don't mention that you really deserved one at some point. Just state the facts - that you were not illegally parked at that date and time and the car description does not even match your own.

Fight it out, what have you got to lose?

I thought that only happened in Mexico..ha ha, at least you can fight it out, here we get ghost fines and no parking ticket at all, we get fined for parking in sectors of town we never even visit. We never find out about them until it is time to pay the hated tenencia or car tax, of all things...every January, February or March.

In South Africa we never pay a fine that is even the least bit incorrectly. It just encourages corruption. I wouldn't pay is at all. Almost every bit of evidence is incorrect: fight.

You broke the law, plain and simple. You are the one being dishonest, not the police.
