4x2 = 8x
y=4

3x4 = 12y

so (8x-4y)- (3x-12y)

use the distrubitve property: 8x - 3x = 5x
4y- 12y= -8y

the answer would be 5x(-8y) Shoot its been 15 years help me out now LOL
