my first one was 10 days late, and weighed 9lbs 12 oz. they had to induce to get her out. i made it, it was not a difficult birth at all, i pushed 3 times. i ripped badly, but of course i recovered. this one is already scheduled to be induced on the 5th of june, and she hasn't dropped yet. I'm 35wks, almost 36, measuring 37. so this one will be big too. hang in there, i feel your pain!!!
OH! to answer your question, if he does actually drop down some, you may be able to breathe better, and have an uncomfortable night's sleep, or have some slight back pain, or just feel generally lousy. that's what happened with my first one!

My baby was delivered at 37 weeks and he was 7lbs. 9 oz. If he had gone to 40 he would have been almost as big as yours.
Is there any reason why they can't induce you alittle early. The larger the baby the more complicated the delivery can be.
I would talk to the doctor about getting him out at 39 weeks. The baby is still full term without complications and will weight alot less making the delivery somewhat easier for you and safer for him.
Good luck and enjoy the baby when it comes.

my baby didn't drop until he was out of me. haha i was 40 weeks and 6 days when i gave birth and he was 8 lbs 5 1/2 ounces. he didn't drop because he had his cord wrapped around his shoulders (silly stubborn baby..haha) but...thats very rare to have that happen so im sure thats not the case with yours. Its hard for a baby to drop down when their head is so large because it may be too large to fit into your pelvis. If you pelvis is wide enough for the baby to fit through..he will probably drop but not until your a lot closer to giving birth.
i would go with what your doctor says. No offense to nurses....but they are nurses and not doctors for a reason..let the doctor do his/her job. they know what they are talking about!!! Good luck and congrats on your little one!!!

my son was 8 lbs, he dropped about 4 weeks before delivery. not to scare you, but my SIL had a 10 lb baby, he never dropped, she never went into labor, and after a 20 hr inducement she had a c-section. good luck!!

Babies don't drop but move into a position for birth. You may not be able to touch your toes even when your baby's head moves into position in the birth canal for the impending birth. Every pregnancy is different so no one can claim exactly when a certain stage in a baby's development will begin except to give very general information. I can tell you that you may not see your toes for awhile, much less touch them.

i think my baby dropped the other day, im 34 weeks. i say that she has dropped b/c i can breath better all of a sudden and my belly button sucked in b/c shes not pushing it out anymore. but she seems to be small to me because i don't look that big, maybe about 6lbs.

you should probabley get a back supporter from babys r us for your stomach meanwhile.
you'll drop when the baby is ready.
measure it by seeing how many fingers you can place between your stomach and breasts.
once you can fit atleats 4 fingers, that means your baby has dropped. not always noticeble wen peopel look at you
but you can always measure yourself.
