What is 12 1/2 percent of £400 BUT im not allowed to use a calculator .. : [

Mutiply 12 1/3 by 400, then divide by 100.
12 1/3 x 400 = 4800+ 400/3 = 4800 + 133 = 4833
Divide by 100
4833 / 100 = 48.33

i'll give you a simple rule of the thumb ..
read "percent" as 1/100 and "of" as (X or multiply by)
so here is ur solution
12 1/3 percent of 400
(3*12+1)/3 percent of 400
= 37/3 percent of 400
= 37/3 * 1/100 * 400
= 37/3 * 4
= 148/3 or 49 1/3
that's ur solution
